Apparently, if you fold a 20 dollar bill in just the right way, the result is a vivid picture of the twin towers burning...
Then, if you fold it a few more times, you get the equally shocking image of George W. Bush holding hands with a Saudi prince and laughing at you!
And two folds beyond that yields Dick Cheney sneering as he drinks the blood of Iraqi children...
I tell you, it's positively eerie.
Don and David. Just two guys from Arizona who tend to get a bit ticked off about all sorts of things. So we've decided we need somewhere to vent -- and we will vent about anything. Mostly politics, but we'll talk about books, music, movies and anything else that strikes our fancy. We're also pretty big Springsteen fans (especially Don) so you're likely to see some videos here.. We hope you will let us know your thoughts about our rants -- but we promise to treat you fairly.

Some Old Shit
Slimy Dick Cheney, the Ur "chickenhawk", now armed with a new heart but still handicapped by a sclerotic brain, shriveled soul, and the moral compass of a sewer rat, says that President Obama has been an "unmitigated disaster to the country."
Well, if there's anything the Dark Lord Cheney has a working knowledge of, it is unmitigated disasters. He has been neck deep in so many of them:
Iraq war anyone? Well, at least Halliburton and Blackwater made out well. It would have been easier and cheaper to just give them the keys to the Treasury.
Energy policy created by oil companies? Sure, why not? We all know Global warming is a liberal conspiracy. Drill baby, drill!
US security leading up to September 11th? Sorry, more important matters to attend to. Gotta cut taxes on millionaires and billionaires.
If you go back far enough, you can even find Cheney cheer leading for Iran Contra. Killing innocent poor people for fun and profit is apparently his raison d'etre. Oh, not in person of course. Wouldn't want to get his hands dirty.
The child is father to the man as they say. As a young man, Cheney wasn't against the Viet Nam war--he was only against serving in the war. "Other priorities" is the phrase he used to justify his many student deferments.
To be clear, Dick Cheney is a war criminal. I don't believe in torture, but in his case I'd be willing to make an exception.
At this point, after such a distinguished career in public life, the most patriotic thing Dick Cheney could do would be to just shut up and hang himself.

Terrifying
As we approach the tenth anniversary of September 11th, the avoidable tragedy that will be forever known, like Pearl Harbor, by its date, we find ourselves in an increasingly terrifying world.
Even though Bin Laden is finally dead--and killed not by order of that smirking, flight suit wearing, dry drunk, AWOL prone National Guardsman, Simple W, or his puppet master, the gun safety poster boy, multi student deferment wielding, Dark Lord Cheney, but instead by Barack Obama, our Kenyan Socialist semi-Democrat President--the world just gets scarier and scarier.
It turns out the enemy, to paraphrase Pogo, is "us".
"We" get fooled over and over by the same divide and conquer tactics that Nixon proudly called his Southern Strategy. Emphasize fear more than anything else. Play the whites off against the blacks. As an added twist play both off against the browns.
"We" accept stupid, simplistic explanations from bought and paid for corporate mouthpieces masquerading as statesmen or "mavericks".
"We" forget the lessons and struggles of the past at the drop of a hat. As a nation we have ADHD. We believe in a fictional history, fairy tales about a nation that never existed. And whoever tells them the best, Ronald Reagan being the prime example of this, gets our vote.
"We" make millionaires out of Murdoch, Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly and all of the other purveyors of hate, fear and divisiveness.
"We" don't want to pay taxes--but we still want services. But just for "us" and not for "them". Because "they" don't deserve them and "we" do.
"We" want to blame someone else. Usually the wrong someone else.
This nation will never fall to a foreign enemy. But the enemies within? I'm not so sure.
