I haven't been to church in awhile, so I don't remember in which book of the Bible Jesus said "Fuck all of these losers. Poor people disgust me. Take all you can from them and give it to the rich. They'll know what to do with it better than these loathsome beggars. Amen."
But it must be in there somewhere, because that is obviously the sentiment that all of these super Christian (just ask them) Republicans are operating under.
Actually, you don't have to ask them, because they'll gladly, and usually loudly, tell you upfront "I'm a Christian" or "Because I'm a Christian" or "My Christian faith compels me to..."
Compels you to what, exactly? Take away healthcare? Take away a woman's right to control her own body? Take away after school and before school programs? Take away food stamps? Take away diversity and intellectual freedom in our colleges? Take away clean air and clean water? Take away voting rights? Take away vaccines? Take away opportunity for all? Take away a few more parts of what this country used to be? Support, willingly and blindly, a rapist, tax cheat, business fraud, thoroughly incompetent, pathologically lying, demented traitor?
And, after all of that, they'll happily cram into the pews come Sunday, and nod along as the priest/minister/pastor/head snakehandler prattles on and on about what it means to be a "good" Christian.
Then, come Monday, washed clean of all of their sins, they will happily go back to fucking people over.
Rinse and repeat.
While you are pondering the breathtaking HYPOCRISY of these "people", always remember that, whatever they profess to be, the true creed of the modern Republican Party is this:
THE POOR CAN NEVER BE MADE TO SUFFER ENOUGH
Amen.
